Attorney Scott Petroff
Scott is a 2005 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he earned a B.A. in Philosophy, met his wife,
and began his professional journey.
Before attending law school, Scott spent over 10 years as a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service in the Pacific Northwest. In the off seasons, he worked for private contractors in the logging industry and began to buy and sell land. These experiences exposed disparities between rural and urban communities, as well as problematic bureaucratic systems, which instilled a fierce desire in him to help rural land owners.
After moving back to Athens County to be closer to extended family, Scott began a new chapter at Capital University Law School. Throughout his program, he served on law review and mock trial, and also externed for the Honorable Jeffrey S. Sutton on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Scott was designated a Marshall Brennan fellow, named to the Order of the Barristers, was a CALI award winner, and also graduated Magna Cum Laude in his class. Upon graduation, Scott opened up a solo law practice in uptown Athens, specializing in aggressive criminal defense.
